the Rules
You can only complete it on 21 June or 21 December
It must be done in your local time zone
You start at exactly 21:00. Not 20:59. Not 21:01. Start at 21:00
You must cover at least 21.00 kilometres
If your watch says 20.99, you’re not done
It must be one continuous run
You can stop briefly if needed, but no splitting it into multiple sessions
You cannot start early to get a head start
Nothing counts before 21:00
It’s a run. Walking is fine when needed, but this isn’t a stroll
You can do it solo or with others
Running with mates, clubs, or groups is encouraged
You can do it anywhere in the world
Outdoor runs count
Treadmill runs also count. If that’s safer or more practical for you, use it
Your route or setup is your responsibility
Use common sense. Stay legal. Stay safe
This runs on honesty. If you say you’ve done it, make sure you actually have
If you’re looking for loopholes, you’ve missed the point
Safety
This is a 9pm start. For the Winter Half, that’s proper darkness. The Summer Half, it can still catch people out
You are responsible for yourself
Pick a safe route or environment
Run with others if you can
Wear something visible if you’re outside
Use a head torch if needed
Take a phone
Tell someone what you’re doing
Avoid places that don’t feel right
If outdoor running at night isn’t safe for you, use a treadmill. That’s absolutely fine
If conditions are bad, don’t force it. There’s always another one in six months
Disclaimer
You take part at your own risk
